Beauty To Go
Whether it's an overseas trip, a holiday interstate or a weekend getaway, I'm a self-confessed serial over-packer. I am getting better at packing clothes I'm actually going to wear, but gathering up my arsenal of beauty products, however, remains a whole other story. My suitcase will be half full and I think I'm going great... until I add my skincare, makeup, haircare and perfume, that is. All of a sudden, I can barely get it shut and I'm frantically worrying about being over my luggage allowance! Look, I know I don't need three blushes and both warm-toned and cool-toned eyeshadow palettes, but I'm a girl who likes options, okay?
To lighten my load when I head home to the west coast next week, I've downsized some of my favourite products with travel-friendly options to save on both volume and weight in my suitcase. I never imagined flying back to Perth would ever be something I looked forward to, but I cannot wait to be home! The start of spring has been a dreary one here in Melbourne and I'm in dire need of sunshine, Mum's cooking, a catch up with my best friend who I haven't seen in over year and a hug from my nanna. I haven't been home since last Christmas, so a trip back home is definitely long overdue and these are some of the adorable bite-sized beauty bits I'll be taking with me.
Bioderma Sensibio H20 Solution Micellaire and both the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser and Instant Boost Skin Tonic are three firm staples in my skincare routine, so they have to come with me wherever I go. A 100ml bottle of Bioderma lasts a lot longer than you may think and whenever I receive these complimentary 30ml-sized Liz Earle products with my orders, I always reserve them for my travels. Two other 30ml skincare products I'm taking with me is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF 30+. Caudalie Beauty Elixir is a holiday must-have as it helps with nausea or any funky smells you may encounter whilst travelling. Something I always carry around in my handbag, one spritz instantly refreshes and revitalises, which is perfect for when you're on the plane too. Though I do try to keep my skincare routine a little more minimal during my travels, I also think still it's important to take good care of it even when away from your home environment. I don't bring with me masks or overnight treatments, but I will bring a couple of serums, one of them being my holy grail Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair. I've been on holidays without it before and never again! I got this itty bitty 7ml bottle from eBay and when it runs out, I can keep refilling it from my main full size bottle, which is even better. I do this with Bioderma too.
I know I can easily use whatever boring old body wash from Woolworths Mum's got in the shower at home, but why do that when I can travel in style and use my favourite product from Lush? I have the 250g bottle of The Comforter Shower Cream already and when I saw it came in the adorable 100g, I knew it would be the perfect size to take with me to Perth. This stuff smells absolutely divine. Up until now, I've always travelled with the 250ml bottle of L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil, but now I have the 35ml version, which is by far more convenient. A little bit luxe, this is my favourite to use when shaving and I can't do with anything else, even when travelling! The body moisturiser I'll be taking with me is the Soap & Glory The Daily Smooth Body Butter in the 50ml tube. I'd take the Sugar Crush Body Buttercream if it came in a travel-friendly size, but this will do!
I feel as though there aren't as many miniature makeup options as there are for other beauty products, but I do have three of my favourites in travel-friendly form. Both the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light are two of my "special occasion" products when I want to go all out with my most luxurious makeup, and seeing as thought it'll be my birthday when I'm in Perth, I couldn't be without these two while I'm away. I absolutely love the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and when I saw these little ones new in at Mecca, I just had to pick one up. I'm a sucker for anything miniature.
The Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer is one of my favourite haircare products, so I not only decided to pick up the 60ml bottle for my travels, but also the mini shampoo and conditioner from the same line. The Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco Shampoo and Conditioner is my go-to from the brand, but as they don't come in travel size, I thought I'd give these other two ago. I haven't tried them yet, but as I've never been disappointed by Bumble and Bumble, I'm expecting good things. The full size versions of Living Proof Prime Style Extender and Oribe Dry Texturing Spray are pretty inconvenient for travelling, so it's a relief to have these minis to take with me to Perth. I originally bought the 60ml tube of the Style Extender just to try it out and now that I love it and have the full size, my mini tube is reserved for travelling. The Oribe Dry Texturing Spray is like a 2-in-1 product for me too; I use it as both a texturising spray and dry shampoo, and multipurpose products are always super handy when on-the-go.
I switch up my fragrances on an almost daily basis, so there are three I'll be taking with me while I'm away - the Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Cologne in the adorable 9ml size, the Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Mini Rollerball (7ml) and Diptyque's Eau Rose Roll-On EDT (20ml). All absolutely beautiful scents for spring, they're fresh, floral and uplifting, though my favourite is definitely the Diptyque Eau Rose. This is the one I call my signature scent and one I always pull out for special occasions like my birthday. It's my favourite rose scent of all.
