Tom Ford is a brand that exudes sheer luxury and style, and it's not hard to understand why beauty aficionados all around have fallen head over heels for this fashion designer's lineup of high quality makeup. With its opulent gold-trimmed packaging (with the price tag to match), owning something from Tom Ford seemed like a far away dream, but I finally got my first little taste of the brand late last year. Since then, I've made a couple of splurge purchases and have now got myself a small selection of Tom Ford beauty products I simply adore and can't wait to talk to you about on the blog today.
The very first Tom Ford beauty product to come into my possession was the Lip Colour in Pink Dusk, which was gifted to me last year by my lovely friend, Jennifer. As she used to work at one of their beauty counters, she was able to get her hands on these adorable little lipstick samples, and while the formula and pigment of the Lip Colours are incredible, how can you also not fall in love with anything miniature? Adorable and travel-friendly. Pink Dusk is a neutral rosy shade of pink that could possibly look slightly my-lips-but-better on paler skin tones. The formula is rich, creamy and pigmented, while I would describe the finish as comparable to MAC's Amplified lipsticks. It's not a formula that's going to last all day, but if you want something fuss-free and something that's going to fade away evenly, the Lip Colours would be right up your alley. I've got my eyes on either Indian Rose or Casablanca now, though I can't say that will be happening any time soon!
Back in May, I received a $20 gift card from Myer due to a promotion they had going on and I used said gift card towards buying the Tom Ford Black Orchid EDP. It would still be on my wishlist if I had to pay full price for it! I was initially captured by the scent of Nior Pour Femme, but one day while browsing Sephora, I gave his other perfumes a try and honestly, smelling Black Orchid was really something life changing. It was like this earth shattering moment of disbelief where I couldn't believe something so beautiful exists in this world. Needless to say, I am absolutely in love.
With notes of black truffle, black orchid, black plum, noir gourmand accord and patchouli, there's something so sensual and luxurious to Tom Ford fragrances. Black Orchid is deep, dark, sexy, sweet and mysterious, and even lingers around long after that initial first spray. I've been getting so much wear out of it this autumn/winter and though I'll retire it for the upcoming warmer seasons, I'll definitely still be bringing it out for nights out because six months without this perfume is far too long. A fragrance from his Signature Range, I love Black Orchid so much more than anything from his Private Blend and I thank my nose for that because with a price range starting from $325 and going up to a whopping $440, I can keep dreaming! I do like Santal Blush from the Tom Ford Private Blend, but it's actually not all that different from Black Orchid and whether I had the money or not, it's not something I feel I need in my life. I guess I don't need any of the beauty products I own, but you know what I mean!
My most recent Tom Ford splurge (thank you, tax refund!) comes in the form of the Ultra-Rich Lip Colour in Revolve Around Me and the Small Bronzing Powder in Terra from the Soleil Colour Collection released a few months ago. I was drawn to the stunning white and gold packaging, and after the Tom Ford lipstick I was initially after, the Lip Colour in Deep Mink, was sadly discontinued, Revolve Around Me seemed like a lovely alternative Tom Ford nude lipstick. It's a peachy pink nude with warm undertones and is less opaque than the regular Lip Colours; I'd say it's more like a MAC Lustre finish. With a slight sheen, it's not super long-lasting and it definitely does benefit from wearing a lip liner underneath (I've been pairing it with the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Iconic Nude and the two look beautiful together), but even with a lip liner or on its own, I just love this lipstick. The beautiful "TF" embossing is now sadly smudged on my bullet (but at least I have these photos to remember its untouched beauty by!) and my only qualm with the Tom Ford lipsticks is that the sharp, angular cut of the product can make it a little difficult to apply. I guess it'll take some getting used to as I've never used a lipstick shaped this way.
Bronzer is a product I've only been wearing for about a year as it's always kind of intimidated me and to be honest, still does. When I apply it, I only use the slightest amount as I'm not really a fan of that super sharp contoured and bronzed look girls on Instagram tend to go for, but I do enjoy some added warmth to my complexion. What drew me to Terra was that it's a very light coloured bronzer (I thought it would be too light for my medium skin tone, but the sales assistant said the other shades, Gold Dust and Bronze Age, would be too dark for me) and since I've been wearing it, I find that I can apply it more liberally without having to worry about looking like an Oompa Loompa! For anyone else a little terrified by bronzer, I'd definitely look into Terra and I think even pale girls may love this one.
I'm really happy with my little selection of Tom Ford beauty and maybe one day in the future, I'll expand on this. As I mentioned, Indian Rose and Casablanca are two Lip Colours I love the look of and the Skin Illuminating Powder Duo in Moonlight also looks positively dreamy. The Eye Colour Quad in Nude Dip has caught my eye quite a few times in-store too, but I need to do a bit more swatching and decision making before I put anything more on the wishlist. Beautifully packaged, timeless and glamorous, there's something so unique about Tom Ford that sets itself apart from other high end beauty brands, and if you ever want to indulge and treat yourself, you can't look any further than Tom Ford.
