Hey, I'm Tenneil

I live in Perth, Australia, and this is my creative outlet where I blog about beauty, my life and everything in between. I enjoy the '80s, the '90s and anything French, and some of my favourite things in life include music,  film, summer and a nice cup of tea.

Summer Skin

Summer Skin

Summer! My most favourite time of the year! The warmth and bright blue skies always lift my mood and mangoes. I freaking love mangoes. Living in a hot climate country where temperatures soar well into the 40s, my summer skincare routine is parred back and requires less effort. In winter, when my skin is a little on the dry side, I give it that TLC it needs with oils and serums to replenish moisture. Come summer, it's all about that sun-kissed glow and keeping cool. From moisturisers, masks and facial mists, here are some of my favourite skincare products I've been loving alongside the beautiful - and sometimes heinous - warm weather.

Water and facial mists are my saviour when the heat becomes all a bit unbearable and I've got quite the collection to keep me cool and feeling refreshed. Having a shower is just not enough sometimes! I love using the Avène Thermal Spring Water all over and especially at night when it's muggy and it can be difficult to sleep. It's pretty much glorified water in a can, but it's still pretty affordable and while regular water can actually dry the skin out, thermal water is soothing and calming.

When it comes to the face, things however, get a little more indulgent. The cult classic Caudalie Beauty Elixir first made its appearance on the beauty blogging scene some few years ago when it was praised by Victoria Beckham. With the most uplifting scent of grape, orange blossom, rose, mint and rosemary, the skin feels reinvigorated and the senses are calmed. It's my number one go-to pick-me-up. I discovered the Chanel Hydra Beauty Essence Mist one day while I was browsing around the beauty counters at Myer and from the first whiff of its beautiful fragrance, I needed it in my life. It contains vitamins C and E along with hyaluronic acid, so you know you're giving a skin a treat with this. Totally worth the splurge! The Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist is another splurge item and although the most expensive of the lot, I prefer the Caudalie and Chanel offerings. They are however, quite heavily fragranced, so if that's not your thing or you have sensitive skin, the Omorovicza mist may be the one for you. There is still a slight rose scent to it, though a very, very mild one. It contains orange blossom, rose and sage waters to purify and tone, and apple pectin for hydration. The price of this stuff is eye-watering, so I do use it quite sparingly and if I do decide to repurchase this, I'll do so online where it's significantly cheaper.

Since introducing the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel into my routine almost two years ago, I've been dying to try more from the brand. The Get Up & Glow Serum* and Renaissance Mask* have been most-welcomed additions to my skincare routine this summer and have really helped to brighten and add radiance, which is especially nice in the warmer months when I'm wearing less makeup. The Get Up & Glow Serum not only energises and brightens the skin, but reverses early signs of ageing by stimulating collagen production. Wrinkles and fine lines are definitely important to factor in if you love being out in the harsh sun. Boosting the skin's oxygen intake, it can also be used as a makeup primer or mid-afternoon pick-me-up, making this one a great summertime all-rounder. The Oskia Renaissance Mask is essentially the Cleansing Gel in a tub, only much thicker and much more potent. The scent is also stronger, and packed with vitamins, minerals and fruit enzymes, it's formulated to boost radiance and activate renewal. Housed in a luxuriously hefty glass tub, the product is a cute peachy pink colour and once applied to the skin, turns white. I leave this on for a good ten minutes or so and once washed off, the results are instantly visible. I have to say, I prefer it over the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask!

For my moisturiser, I've returned to an old favourite - the Origins GinZing Moisturiser. In the colder months, this isn't always the most hydrating (I'll use the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré in winter), but its lightweight, gel-like formula is perfect come summertime. It contains coffee bean and panax ginseng to really perk up the skin and the citrus scent is also super refreshing.

The Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash is summertime in a bottle! I actually use this all-year round, I love the scent so much. With a zingy and uplifting fragrance of lime, kiwi and coconut, it's my go-to body wash when I'm having a cold shower, and I've even got the Sugar Crush Body Buttercream counterpart on rotation too.

Summer or winter, what have been some of your favourite skincare products recently?
