Hey, I'm Tenneil

I live in Perth, Australia, and this is my creative outlet where I blog about beauty, my life and everything in between. I enjoy the '80s, the '90s and anything French, and some of my favourite things in life include music,  film, summer and a nice cup of tea.

A Tint of Colour

A Tint of Colour

It may not officially be winter just yet, but this cold weather has already started to take its toll on my skin, especially my lips. No matter how much I rug up when I go outside, the chilly air hits my face (so much so, it even stings my eyes! I've never experienced such coldness like this!), making my lips incredibly parched. I'm doing all that I can to take care of them so I can still wear my seasonal vampy lipsticks, but on days they're looking just a bit too dry or I'm feeling a little lazy, tinted lip balms have become my saviour. A lazy girl's best friend, tinted lip balms make for a no-mirror, fuss-free application that still manages to complete your overall makeup look, while also providing some much needed moisture back in. Effortless and moisturising? What more could you need?

The Dior Addict Lip Glow is my go-to tinted lip balm and the one I probably reach for the most in my stash. It's a bit of an interesting one as it's formulated with "colour reviver technology" and reacts with the chemistry of your lips to provide you your own unique shade of tint. On me, it's a lovely rosy shade and with an SPF of 10, your lips are even further protected and nourished. A tube will set you back a whopping $45, but the Dior Addict Lip Glow is universally flattering on all skintones and creates the most beautiful wash of colour for a fresh-faced look.

I'd heard many great things about this particular lip product prior to buying it, but I'm not going to lie, my main reason for wanting one of these beauties is for the super luxe and incredibly stunning packaging. Having said that, I've ended up loving the YSL Volupté Sheer Candy Glossy Balms more than I initially expected. In the shade #10 Tangy Mandarine, the Volupté Sheer Candies are enriched with vitamins and antioxidants and will leave your lips feeling soft and hydrated for up to eight hours. The colour it provides the lips is sheeny, but not too glossy and feels silky smooth. It's one I love whacking on during work because it fades off evenly and like all YSL products, it has the brand's signature fruity fragrance. A handbag staple.

While I'd also heard many great things about the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments, this one, unlike the YSL Volupté Sheer Candies, was a lip balm I never gave much thought to or ever considered purchasing. However, when I was in a Sephora store during my holiday in Asia last year, I spotted them and couldn't get over that amazing fruity lemon scent. More than just the way they smell, I am so glad I ended up purchasing one of these as they're definitely worth the hype. Rich, creamy and incredibly pigmented, the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments give your lips so much colour and life, you could almost consider them a lipstick. It contains vitamins, essential fatty acids, an SPF of 15 and will even protect your lips against wrinkle-causing free radicals. There's an incredible range of colours, though I have the shade Sugar Honey, which on me, is the perfect my-lips-but-better shade and the most beautiful nude coloured lip balm ever.

I've talked about the Korres Lip Butters a few times on my blog and even did a full review of them here. I have to admit, these don't get as much use as my other tinted lip balms do simply because they're in a pot, making them a bit of a nuisance to apply, but nevertheless, these are incredible lip balms that I'm making more an effort to use more often. Offering a subtle hint of colour, the Korres Lip Butters contain shea butter and rice wax and feel buttery and smooth on the lips. I have the shades Jasmine, Mango and Wild Rose and sometimes I even like to wear Wild Rose underneath my vampy matte lipsticks to act as a barrier to prevent them from drying out.
