There's been a special day in the blogging community this week as two days ago marked the very first birthday of A Little Opulent. Having been a part of this amazing online magazine as a content contributor since its inception, I couldn't help but feel excited, and want to celebrate such an occasion. As I'm sure you're all aware, A Little Opulent is the brainchild of Rebecca and Jen, and from being interviewed by Bloglovin' to reaching over 10,000 followers in less than a year, together, they've achieved so much in such a small amount of time and I'm so proud of them. I've actually wanted to do a post dedicated to ALO for quite some time now and this was the perfect occasion to do so.
When Jen first contacted me asking me to be a part of the team as a Culture and Entertainment contributor over a year ago, I was overwhelmed with excitement and absolutely jumped at the opportunity because while it was still in development, I just knew ALO was going to go far. You probably know from my Life Lately posts that apart from beauty, music, film and television are also things I enjoy and love talking about, so having A Little Opulent is another creative outlet for me to express that. I don't necessarily feel like I can't talk about those things here on my personal blog and I always say that a blog should be everything and anything you want it to be, but with ALO, I guess there's a little more creative freedom and I don't have to worry about whether my followers are going to enjoy the content or not.
I started out contributing two articles per month to ALO, but unfortunately had to drop down to one per month as I found it a little difficult to keep on top of with my blog (don't even get me started on that YouTube channel I already seem to have abandoned... I will make a new video soon!). I really appreciate the flexible deadlines working with Jen because it means I can make the time to deliver my best work and natural daylight for photography can sometimes be an issue too!
While beauty blogs seem to dominate my Bloglovin' feed because it's what I enjoy the most, what I love most about A Little Opulent is that it's a little something different. Whether you're a film buff, book worm, music junkie, beauty lover or all-round creative, there's something for everyone - there's no one specific genre and whether the articles have been written with a personal or editorial approach, there's such a variety. The content is written and curated by a bunch of super talented 20-something year-olds and I'm so proud I can say I'm a part of that team. I've also included A Little Opulent on my CV and while trying to break into the digital marketing industry is hard work, it's really important to have online hobbies and interests you're really passionate about because it all counts. I know that when I finally do land myself that dream job, I'll have A Little Opulent to thank. I love being a part of something so much bigger than me, a part of this wonderful, supportive and creative community, and I'm ever so grateful to both Jen and Rebecca for giving me this incredible opportunity a year ago.
Happy first birthday, A Little Opulent! I'm really excited for what lies ahead in its second year and I can't wait to continue creating content for the magazine, which I hope you'll all enjoy.
