Hey, I'm Tenneil

I live in Perth, Australia, and this is my creative outlet where I blog about beauty, my life and everything in between. I enjoy the '80s, the '90s and anything French, and some of my favourite things in life include music,  film, summer and a nice cup of tea.

The Face Mask Trio

The Face Mask Trio

Before I had developed a proper skincare routine, I was using all kinds of different face masks without having properly researched them and knowing what their benefits were. Looking back, it's no wonder I had such problematic skin. I think I kind of just assumed they all did the same thing and little did I know that there were different face masks for different skin needs and problems. I thought having more than one face mask in a skincare routine seemed a tad excessive and while for some people, it probably is, I've come to really reap the benefits of having a few different face masks in my routine to suit my varying skin concerns. Most of the time, I use these on separate occasions depending on what I think my skin needs, but when it's time for a pamper and a real skincare treat, I use them all at once. Concerning cleansing, exfoliating and hydrating matters, there's a face mask here to tackle every skin problem.

Cleansing: REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask

On days I'm looking particularly spotty or oily, this is my go-to mask. Super thick and creamy, this is your typical clay mask, which helps to draw out impurities and decongest the skin. A lot of clay-based masks can leave the skin feeling quite tight and dry, and upon first application, I thought this was the case for this REN mask, however, once it's washed off, my skin is left feeling super smooth and supple, you'd think I was using a hydrating mask! Formulated with French clay and seaweed, REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask reduces excess sebum and eliminates blackheads, for a smooth, even-toned complexion. Used in conjunction with the right serums and spot treatments, and my skin is looking clear again in no time.

Exfoliating: REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

I was introduced to the amazing skincare brand that is REN through this mask, and from their cleansers, serums and masks, I have been so impressed with everything I've tried from them, it's no surprise I've included two REN products here in my lineup of face masks. The Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask is what they call "a potent bio active peel mask", which gently exfoliates the skin to reveal a radiant, healthy and glowing complexion. It also helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, while improving the skin's firmness and and tone. Made of natural fruit acid complex, this mask has a weird jam-like consistency and even smells like marmalade, which I just love so much, I feel like I could almost eat it right off my face! This is a mask I've been using for a good couple of years now and is a definite staple in my skincare routine.

Hydrating: Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

A much-loved blogger favourite and one I've talked about a few times on my blog, the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask is my favourite moisture mask ever. I actually haven't tried any other hydrating masks before, but I just love this Origins one so much, I don't feel the need to. Containing a number of natural ingredients such as apricot kernel oil, avocado and Japanese seaweed, this deeply nourishes the skin, restores moisture and will quench your skin's thirst. Left to work its magic overnight, this is a must-have for anyone too lazy to go through the faff of an entire skincare routine every night. Remove makeup, cleanse, apply mask and bedtime. Too easy. Once washed off in the morning, the skin is left feeling supple and looking hydrated. As with REN's Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask, this has a wonderfully fruity scent that you almost don't mind going to bed smelling like fruit juice.

What are your favourite face masks for your different skin concerns?
