Hey, I'm Tenneil

I live in Perth, Australia, and this is my creative outlet where I blog about beauty, my life and everything in between. I enjoy the '80s, the '90s and anything French, and some of my favourite things in life include music,  film, summer and a nice cup of tea.

A Little Mecca Cosmetica Haul

A Little Mecca Cosmetica Haul

Naturally, when you put two beauty bloggers together, a little bit of shopping is bound to happen and boy, did Jennifer and I do some splurging big time. Can you blame us though? I think it comes with the territory of being a blogger and now that I'm away from home, we have to make the most of our catch ups whenever I'm back in P-Town! I always have such a lovely time hanging out with Jennifer, chatting away for hours on end about anything and everything, and our catch ups always leave me feeling happy, positive and truly grateful for a friendship that has blossomed so quickly, I forget we first met on the Internet. After a delicious lunch date at The Flour Factory, we hit up Mecca Cosmetica in the city where I let myself forget that I have rent and bills to pay for just a little while.

Shall we start with the grand daddy of them all? Byredo, you guys. So luxe and so chic, the Swedish aren't just about cheap, amazing furniture. I currently have their Inflorescence EDP on my wishlist as well as the Tree House Candle, but after seeing the Gingembre Candle on the ever so lovely Grace's blog, I made a mental note to go take a whiff of this. Well, I did, and oh my gosh, it was love at first smell. It's like ginger beer, but more sophisticated and sweet, and when Jennifer and I saw the last two remaining on the shelf, we knew it was meant to be. A limited edition candle released during Christmas, we quickly replaced Diptyque's Pomander Candle in favour of this as we just couldn't pass up this beautiful, beautiful Byredo one. Eye-watering expensive, the aroma fills the room without burning and there's sixty hours worth of it too, so it'll last a long while. I'm not going to lie, I am a little hesitant to light this as it really is like burning your money away, but I am a lover of the luxurious and life is just too short not to indulge... that's what I keep telling myself, anyway.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils. They've been raved on about endlessly by bloggers and YouTubers and I finally decided to jump on board this bandwagon. After spending hours online looking at swatches, I finally settled on Cruella and I couldn't be happier. Described as a "passionate scarlet red", it's a deep blue-toned red colour, which reminds me of Russian Red by MAC. I don't own this lipstick, though I do have Ruby Woo, which is much brighter and less comparable. Blue-toned reds are my favourite and I feel that they're more flattering on me than those with pink undertones. It annoyingly doesn't twist up, so I will have to buy a big enough sharpener for this, but apart from that, the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are well worth checking out.

I was so excited for the release of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes last year, but when I finally got around to testing them out in-store, I was deeply disappointed. I found them way too chalky and the colours not at all what I expected them to be from what I saw online, so I decided to forget about it. Well, a few months later, I gave them another chance and after testing them out again at Perth's first newly opened Mecca Maxima store, my opinion on these blushes quickly changed and I was actually really quite impressed. I think sometimes when you swatch products in-store, the testers aren't always accurate as they get quite battered and leaving them out in the open air and harsh lighting can really affect them. After swatching newer testers, I was excited about these blushes again and purchased the shade, Mood Exposure. It's described as a "soft plum", which translates as a warm nude colour on the skin. It provides a soft flush of colour to the cheeks and a natural glow, making these blushes just as stunning as their face powder counterpart.

Last, but certainly not least are the Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco Shampoo and Conditioner. Having used the Redken Smooth Lock Shampoo and Conditioner for quite some time now, I decided to give something new a go. Don't get me wrong, the Redken range is still fantastic and nothing has left my thick, coarse hair feeling softer and more nourished (unlike the Moroccanoil range, which has never really done anything for me), but I'm just a little bored and I trust Bumble and Bumble as I use a number of their products already and I've always been impressed with their stuff. I used the Creme de Coco Masque years ago and loved it, so I have no doubt I'll love the shampoo and conditioner too. My thoughts on these will featured on the blog soon enough!

A relatively small haul, but an expensive one nonetheless! I also included a picture of me wearing the lip pencil and blush as Jennifer wanted to see what they looked like on me. I realise the sun is reflecting right off my cheek making the blush hard to see, but it's still kind of noticeable and the struggle to take a decent photo of yourself is real enough as it is, so we're just going with it.
