Hey, I'm Tenneil

I live in Perth, Australia, and this is my creative outlet where I blog about beauty, my life and everything in between. I enjoy the '80s, the '90s and anything French, and some of my favourite things in life include music,  film, summer and a nice cup of tea.

Pastel Purple

Thunder Road by SpaRitual, Lucky Lucky Lavender by OPI, Lilac Sky by Chanel, Chase by Topshop, Parma Violet by Topshop, Neo Whimsical by Essie and Yokohama Twilight by OPI

My favourite colour is purple and over the years, I seem to have built up a nice nail polish collection of the pastel variety. While they do all kind of look the same, you can see that they are in fact different, which is how I justify owning a million shades of what is essentially the same colour. You should also keep in mind that this is probably only a third of my purple nail polish collection as I do own darker shades of the colour, and it should come as no surprise that the purple drawer of my collection is jam packed. As a sucker for the pastel purples, I thought I'd do an overview of the shades I own.

As you can see, Thunder Road by SpaRitual and the two Topshop colours lean towards the more bluer side of purple, whereas the others have more pink tones. I haven't heard people talking too much about SpaRitual nail polishes, but I just fell in love with this shade of purple when grav3yardgirl mentioned it as her favourite quite some time ago. I got suckered into buying Lucky Lucky Lavender late last year when Katrina featured it in her Spring Beauty Edit. It's the most recent addition to my collection of pastel purples and while I tried so hard to resist buying this, it was different enough to give into temptation and I'm so glad I did. I've worn this a few times this summer and it's just beautiful. Lilac Sky. Isn't that name so dreamy? Then again, isn't Chanel as a brand in general? This was my first pastel purple nail polish I ever bought - the beginning of a love affair. This and Chase by Topshop both have tiny flecks of shimmer running through it, which reflect the light so magically. I bought Chase when I was in Tokyo back in 2012, which was the first time I ever stepped foot into an actual Topshop store. It was one of the most happiest moments of my life. Parma Violet was bought during my second visit to a Topshop store, which was none other than London's flagship store on Oxford St. Talk about heaven on earth! It veers ever so slightly on the grey side and is much more muted than the rest of the purples I own. I've contemplated buying Essie's Lilacism, but from what I've seen of swatches online, they're more or less the same colour, so I'm going to give it a miss. Neo Whimsical - beautiful colour, beautiful name. It's a bit of an odd one because it's not exactly a true purple, yet not exactly a true pink. It's smack bang right in the middle. This is one of my go-to shades when I can't decide what to wear because when you own as much nail polish as I do, life is just too hard. Last is Yokohama Twilight by OPI, which I think was an Asia/Pacific release only. I bought this quite some time ago, but I remember seeing it still stocked in David Jones long after its release. It's a hazy, dream-like pink, purple and blue duochrome and I'm so in love with this colour. It makes me think of the sky.

Do you own any of these shades and what are your favourite pastel purple nail polishes? If you'd like me to do any other overviews of my nail polish collection, just let me know!
