Hey, I'm Tenneil

I live in Perth, Australia, and this is my creative outlet where I blog about beauty, my life and everything in between. I enjoy the '80s, the '90s and anything French, and some of my favourite things in life include music,  film, summer and a nice cup of tea.

Coming Up Roses

Coming Up Roses

If I had to pick my favourite flower, it would be the rose. Perhaps it's a bit of a cliché choice, but they're classic, timeless, beautiful and not to mention, that sweet smell is just heavenly. When it comes to buying beauty products, I'm undoubtedly partial to those that are rose scented and I've found some that not only smell wonderful, but work wonders too.

The Chloé Signature fragrance was one of my very first designer perfumes that I purchased as a teenager when I started my first job. It holds sentimental value as it reminds me of nights out, my friends and even while my taste in fragrance has definitely changed as I've gotten older, Chloé has always remained a favourite. I'm really saddened by the fact that my little bottle is tarnished and I've tried so many ways to clean it, but to no avail. I'd really love to buy a shiny brand new bottle, but as I own a ridiculous amount of perfume, I probably won't be finishing this one any time soon!

The most recent addition to my fragrance collection is Diptyque's Eau Rose. I went into Mecca Cosmetica to buy the Rose candle and the sales assitant then introduced me to the most beautiful perfume ever. A few weeks later, I found myself back there buying the rollerball, but it wasn't enough to satisfy my new found love for this fragrance as I then purchased the full size bottle at the end of last year. I have to thank the beauty blogging community for my love affair with Diptyque, but really, how could you not fall in love? It's French, utterly sophisticated, has the most gorgeous minimal packaging, the scents are truly unique and did I mention it's French? While the whole Diptyque range of scents is just stunning, my favourite is obviously Rose. I've had the candle for quite a while now and I'm trying to use it sparingly as they aren't the cheapest. I've found Diptyque candles last a really long time though and you can literally smell the difference in quality compared to Yankee Candles or Dusk. Even when it's not burning, the smell lingers in your room. If there's a scent I'd want to be known by, it's Diptyque's Rose. It smells very similar to both the Chloé Signature and Chloé Roses de Chloé, yet I find the Chloé fragrances to be stronger and with different notes. Out of all the perfume I own, I've finally found my signature scent that feels truly me.

Having never tried anything by Jurlique before, my first foray into the brand just had to be rose scented. I decided on the Rosewater Balancing Mist as I'd heard Jessica mention how lovely it was and it comes as no surprise that this is a best seller. While I don't find it as refreshing as my holy grail Caudalie Beauty Elixir, the subtle sweet scent is luxurious and it really helps to hydrate and sooth my skin. Still on the skincare front, I've been using the Nuxe Comforting Cleansing Milk with Rose Petals for a good couple of months now and it's so dreamy. While it does claim itself as a makeup remover, I strictly use it as a cleanser as I like to use something more heavy duty like Liz Earle or Emma Hardie. Having said that though, this cleansing milk does feel really rich and I particularly like using this at night because the rose fragrance is so soft and calming. Plus, how fancy is it saying your cleanser contains rose petals?

Lastly, there's lips. I've been using Smith's Rosebud Salve for a fair few years now and while it is nice on the lips, I prefer it as an all-purpose product. More specifically, I like using this on the skin around my nails because as gross as it may sound, I have a bad habit of biting them! With a really strong rose fragrance, this offers my skin the TLC and hydration it needs. I've talked about these two lip products quite recently and they're the Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose and Dior Crème de Rose. The Korres Lip Butter probably has the most subtle smell out of the bunch and is very much on the sweet side. I love this product because not only do they come in a lovely variety of shades, but they're super moisturising and add a nice tint to the lips. As for Crème de Rose, this is a truly beautiful, beautiful lip balm. It's rich, feels like silk on the lips and the scent is probably the closest to my beloved Diptyque Eau Rose. If you ever feel like investing in a luxe lip balm, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed by this.

What are your favourite rose scented products? I'm always on the lookout for more!
