It's easy to let the woes of life get to us. We all have busy schedules and to do lists that need to get crossed off, which can often leave us feeling stressed, tired and fatigued. Perhaps the weather is bringing us down, our makeup isn't looking right or it just simply isn't our day. There are a few refreshing products I like to use that really help to reenergise, uplift and pick me up, so I can go about my day as usual.
As much as the sun and a bright blue sky can instantly put us in a better mood, us poor Australians have been suffering from a heatwave with temperatures soaring over 40 degrees. The sweltering heat can often leave you feeling drained and exhausted, so when it comes to keeping cool in the summer, I love using water mists. I suppose it's easier and just as effective to pour water into a spray bottle, but the Avène Eau Thermale Spring Water and Caudalie Grape Water both help to sooth and moisturise the skin, whereas plain water can actually dry it out. I like to shower at night, since I always sleep in in the mornings, but even then, as soon as I step out from underneath the water, I can feel sticky and gross again. To combat this, I like to spray either of the Avène or Caudalie mists all over, and the Caudalie Grape Water even has a subtle sweet scent, which is just lovely. They help keep me feeling fresh and cool, so I sleep a lot better during the night.
As well as sleeping well at night, waking up in the mornings is another issue I have. On those nights where I've tossed and turned and haven't managed to get a good night's sleep, the Liz Earle Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion and Origins No Puffery Cooling Rollerball come to the rescue. With both containing active natural ingredients, they help to relieve tired, irritated and red puffy eyes. The witch hazel, aloe and cornflower found in Liz Earle's offering helps to tone and cool, whereas the Yeast Extract and Hoelen Mushroom Extract in the Origins rollerball helps to de-puff, brighten the eye area and diminish redness. A couple of cotton pads over the eyes with Liz Earle's Eyebright or a roll of the cooling metal rollerball of Origins No Puffery underneath the eyes, and you're good to go about your day feeling awake and perked up. I also like to use these at night sometimes if I've had a long day and my eyes are feeling a little stingy.
I'm sure we've all had those days where no matter what we do, we just can't get our makeup looking the way we want it to. Sometimes my skin is a little dry and my foundation won't blend nicely into my skin or it's even looking a little cakey. Enter MAC Fix+. I've found this spray to be an amazingly quick hydration boost and infused with all sorts of good stuff such as green tea, chamomile and cucumber, a spritz of this and your makeup will be looking as good as new.
I try my hardest to be a positive person, but sometimes that can be easier said than done and at times, we'll find our negative emotions getting the better of us. When this happens, I find Origins Peace of Mind On-the-Spot Relief instantly calms me down. Its refreshing aroma helps relieve stress and forget about our troubles that can tend to cloud our minds. Dab this on the back of your neck, earlobes and temples, take a deep breathe and your worries will wash away. The tingling sensation and refreshing scent of mint is sometimes just what you need for a quick pick-me-up.
I saved my favourite for last, which is cult product, Caudalie Beauty Elixir. Made for adding radiance to the complexion, this product is really an all-rounder to me. I use it over makeup, under makeup and even as a toner. The beautiful aroma of grape, orange blossom, rose, organic balm mint and rosemary is so energising and soothing, it leaves you feeling calm and refreshed on both the inside and out. When a good friend of mine got a whiff of me using this, she instantly fell in love, so I treated her to a bottle for her birthday and now she can't get enough of this stuff herself. It's easy to see why beauty bloggers everywhere are crazy about the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. It really is holy grail status and something I'll never be able to be without.
Have you tried any of these products? What do you use to help pick yourself up?
