I love my room. It's my own little space where I have all my lovely things surrounding me, I can enjoy my own company and of course, sleep. I think it's important to create a space that you love, that you can take pride in and can feel inspired by. I suppose this isn't a totally necessary thing in everyone's life, but as someone who has both a strong appreciation for aesthetics and looked at too many pretty interiors on Tumblr, my bedroom has been through a few tiny makeovers in the past five years since I've lived in this house. I've actually been meaning to do a room tour since I first started blogging, but there was always something stopping me as I never considered it perfect, but then again, when is anything in life ever perfect? I'm actually glad I waited until now though because I'm really happy with my room and I wanted to do a really awesome blog post for when I reached 500 followers. I thought I'd be waiting until about March to get this up, but the response to my blog name change was so overwhelming positive, I received an influx of followers! I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I love watching room tour videos on YouTube, but as I'm not a YouTuber (I've contemplated it, but I can barely make the time to blog let alone make videos!), here is my room in picture form.
My bed acts my blogging prop where I take all my pictures and as it's against the wall where the window is, it casts a lot of sunlight down onto it, which I love. My bed frame was originally silver and my amazing Eiffel Tower lamp was a rust colour, but I spray painted both of them black. I'm a bit of an organisational freak (I'm Monica from Friends and as you can see, it's the only TV show I own on DVD because it's the best ever) and while my bed isn't made a lot of the time, my room usually tends to stay this tidy. I'm one of those weirdos who has to have everything in its right place, however, I can accumulate a lot of rubbish in my room from shopping bags and packaging from online purchases! I posted a separate wardrobe tour here a couple of years ago and a few months ago, I decided to take down my pictures from inside my wardrobe. I was getting bored of them and it felt a bit immature, so I decided to go right back to the minimalist approach. At night, you can usually find my room lit with a candle and me in bed with my MacBook Pro watching a movie or falling asleep to YouTube. I don't know what it is about beauty videos that is so calming and relaxing!
As much as I love my room, at the same time, I really can't wait to move out. I feel like I've outgrown this little space and I need something bigger. No matter how much I reorganise and throw/give things away, my wardrobe only just fits all my clothes and I currently house all my makeup in a small cube, which is almost bursting at the seams! I really want a dressing table, but as I plan on moving out of home soon, I figure there's no point getting one just yet. I don't want to have to sacrifice my desk for a dressing table either because I spend more time at the computer than I do doing my makeup. I'd like to keep both separate and I really just don't have the space in my lovely, albeit tiny room. It's not that I'm not grateful for what I have, but I would really love my own kitchen, living room and bathroom too. I am 25 now, so it's definitely time for me to leave the nest! I dream of having my own little apartment to decorate and pay for with an awesome job in the awesome city of Melbourne. Hopefully I can find an awesome housemate too. Gotta keep working, so I can turn those dreams into reality!
I posted a bedroom wishlist a while ago here, if you'd like to see how I want to decorate my future bedroom. I still want to keep my bed frame and Eiffel Tower lamp as I just cannot part with them, though I am thinking of getting a plain white bedspread as I can't get enough of my minimalism. I'd probably jazz it up with coloured/textured cushions. What do you think?
- Bed frame and bed sheets - Bedshed
- Bedside table, desk and chair - IKEA
- Eiffel Tower lamp - Le Forge
- Jewellery storage - Wayfair
- Clear makeup cube - eBay
- White whicker baskets - eBay
If you spotted anything else in my room that you'd like to know where I got from, just let me know! Lastly, I just want to say thank you to all you lovely people who follow my blog and make the time to comment. Blogging is such a fun hobby and it's nice to know that people get enjoyment out of something I really enjoy doing too. This blog post has been a long time coming, so I really hope you liked it and found some inspiration in it. If you've ever done a room tour on your blog, please link me as I'd love to see!
