Out of Thin Air and Into Your Own Universe
My sincere apologies it's been so long since my last blog post. I actually attempted to photograph this outfit last week and it was a total disaster. I did my makeup all nice on my day off work only to discover I'd left my remote for my camera at my best friend's house. I attempted to shoot without it, but I gave up. I was frustrated, it was hot, my makeup was melting off, nothing would focus and it was just a complete fail. As beautiful as we like to make our blogs, it isn't always a glamorous business! I think from now on, I'm going to try my hardest to blog around two to three times a week as I do have a lot of blog posts planned and hopefully I can keep my creative juices flowing. I always worry about running out of fresh ideas, but as I once read, "You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have".
Back on topic, I call this outfit my '90s getup. I'd never really been interested in "mom" jeans until I saw Jess wearing them and they looked so amaze. Her whole style is just flawless, really, and I always turn to her for outfit inspiration. I bought myself a pair back when I was in Sydney last year (Topshop is finally coming to Perth though!) and I'm so in love. I had this whole outfit planned in my mind and I think it looks so damn cool. I'm not sure where I'd wear it and it's definitely too hot to wear jeans now, but I'm sure I'll find the perfect occasion for them. In the meantime, at least I have nice clothes. I've never felt more in love with a pair of jeans since owning the Topshop Mom jeans. As I have short legs, skinny leg jeans are always too long for me - even ankle grazers - and it makes me want to cry sometimes. I find these jeans a lot more flattering on me though. These babies even looked good with my baggy grey pyjama top with my black bra straps showing - it just had that whole effortless look that I think 90's fashion was all about.
Taking inspiration from '90s Drew Barrymore, I wanted this look to be grungy, but I think I'm probably a bit too girly for the whole '90s grunge look. For my makeup, I went with a brown, soft smokey eye with black eyeliner smudged into the lashes. On my lips, I'm wearing MAC's Ruby Woo lipstick as it's my number one choice when it comes to the classic red lip look.
