While I've mostly been fortunate enough to enjoy a sunny winter this year, the cold air outside and conditioned air inside hasn't done any good for my skin. One day when I was applying my foundation, I noticed it wasn't sitting or blending into my skin as nicely as it usually does. I've never thought of myself as having dry skin, but it's definitely been dehydrated, and I suppose dry skin can go a little further than simply suffering from flaky patches. I decided to splurge a little and invest in three hydrating products - an oil, mask and serum - that I know are well loved in the blogging community.
I originally had Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil on my wishlist, but when I read reviews that it was more targeted towards oily skin, I decided to keep searching. I settled on Nude's ProGenius Treatment Oil after hearing Kate mention it a couple of times and my decision to purchase this particular oil was further cemented after reading Into The Gloss' review here. At night after applying my toner, I like to mix this in with my holy grail Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair and while I do go to bed looking a little greasy, I wake up with the softest, most supple and nourished skin. The lovely sales assistant at Mecca Cosmetica was generous enough to give me a sample of Nude's Cellular Renewal Moisturiser and while it smelt absolutely gorgeous and felt luxurious on the skin, I think it may have broken me out as I haven't suffered from any blemishes since my sample ran out. Nevertheless, the oil has worked wonders for my skin and I feel like it's more radiant and clear. It's jammed packed full of omegas and while it does come with a hefty price tag, it's totally worth the investment.
I think almost every blogger I read owns Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask. I'd always pass this product as something I didn't need, but when I decided my skin needed a hydration boost, this was obviously the first product that came to mind. I asked the sales assistant at Kit Cosmetics about the Drink Up 10 Minute Mask and which one she preferred, and she recommended the Overnight offering as you don't have to bother washing it off and can just go to bed with it on. As high maintenance as I am when it comes to my skincare routine, any product that requires minimal effort is right up my alley. I am the ultimate lazy girl sometimes! Every week, I've been using this in conjunction with the Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque and both have done wonders for my skin. I love that I don't have to wash this off at night and instead, I can leave it on for hours while it works its magic. When I cleanse my face and remove the mask in the morning, it feels so soft and smooth. Not only do I love a product that does its job, but I also love one that smells good too. If you love fruity scents, you'll just adore this. It smells like tropical fruit juice and I just want to eat it!
Lastly, a cult favourite made famous by skincare goddess, Caroline Hirons. Indeed Labs Hydraluron was a bit of a weird product for me to use at first as it felt very sticky and didn't apply as nicely as my usual serums do. After reading a YouTube comment saying that it's best to apply when the skin is a little wet, I applied this right after my toner when my skin was damp and it glided much smoother on my skin. Unlike most serums, Hydraluron is a gel consistency, which was something I wasn't used to, but once you keep using this product, you definitely notice the wonderful benefits. It locks in the moisture and makes your daily choice of moisturiser much more potent. I'm so happy I was able to purchase this during Priceline's amazing 40% off all skincare sale at the end of July, and I can definitely see Hydraluron lasting a long time in my routine.
