Hey, I'm Tenneil

I live in Perth, Australia, and this is my creative outlet where I blog about beauty, my life and everything in between. I enjoy the '80s, the '90s and anything French, and some of my favourite things in life include music,  film, summer and a nice cup of tea.

13. Good evening, Sydney! 14. Missing my bestie

Things have been pretty quiet on the blogging front, I do apologise. I miss my room back in Perth and my regular blogging setup a lot, but apart from that, Sydney has been treating me very well and I'm loving it so much here. Apart from the hellish rain during my first week here, it's been an absolutely beautiful winter with sunny, bright blue skies, which I'm so thankful for because it's made exploring Sydney so much fun. It's hard being away from my family and friends, but I've found a lot of happiness being independent and enjoying my own company. On the other hand, I've been able to meet some lovely online friends of mine and it's been fun meeting new people.

I'm really fussy when it comes to fashion blogs as I feel there aren't a whole lot that reflect the kind of style I like, but when I discovered Georgia's blog, Glam, I couldn't stop scrolling and hitting that 'Older Posts' link! Her style is chic, somewhat grungy and edgy, but still feminine and girly, which gives me so much outfit inspiration. Her personal style is perfect, basically, and I want her entire wardrobe.

First and foremost, my beautiful boys (aka Cut Copy) released a new single called Let Me Show You, which I just adore. Perhaps I'm biased because they're my favourite band of all time, but I do genuinely love this song so much. I really hopes this means they'll be releasing a new album soon. If you're into 80s disco music, definitely have a listen! More in Aussie music, I really enjoyed Midnight Juggernauts and TV Colours' 2013 releases. I think the talented musicians to come out of Australia is what makes me proudest to be Australian. I've been obsessed with electronic dream pop in August and I have so much love for Astral Pattern and HAERTS. They're both upcoming bands, but have so much potential to make it big, I think. I love beautiful whimsical music that makes me want to get lost in my dreams.

Film and television

Back in February, my good friend, Anna, and I traded movies from each other's hard drives, but I've only just got around to watching them all. I discovered some amazing classics through her such as Schindler's List and The Godfather, which I both highly recommend. I tend to get quite bored during long movies, but both were so engaging and so powerful. I have to admit, I didn't enjoy Part III of The Godfather as much as the first two, but it's definitely a classic worth watching. As for Schindler's List, WOW. It's been a long time since I've felt so moved by a film. Perhaps because it's a true story based on The Holocaust, some scenes were so hard to watch and even though it wasn't gory like a horror film, it felt "scarier" than one. I find World War II so fascinating because it's sometimes so hard to comprehend that this was real life. On a lighter note, I also discovered some great documentaries, which were The Queen Of Versailles and Bill Cunningham New York. The Queen of Versailles tells the story of the excessive lives of the couple who own Westgate Resorts as they build their dream home inspired by the Palace of Versailles, while Bill Cunningham New York is about the photographer himself. If you love fashion, photography and New York (who doesn't love all those things?!), you'll love this doco. Both are enjoyable, light-hearted, easy films to watch. As for TV, I really enjoyed this season's Mad Men (Don Draper, you're a douche, but I love you, anyway, and God damn, you're so freaking handsome) and I've just started watching the last series of Skins. I'm not ready to say goodbye to Skins yet!

Beauty product

I've been obsessed with Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask this month, which has been my saviour this winter. That's all I'm going to say about it because I have a blog post about it coming up!

Fashion item

I think my black knitted jumper by Miss Shop has been my go-to fashion item this month. As it's starting to warm up, I haven't really needed a big coat or jacket, so this jumper has been perfect as something lightweight that still keeps me quite warm. I really want to get more knitted pieces, but I suppose that'll have to wait until next year now.

Life events

August was a wonderful social month for me. A couple of workmates and I enjoyed a random drunken Tuesday night out after work - spontaneous nights out always seem to be the most fun, I think. My good friend Tahleah who I met on Contiki last year has been my lovely Sydney tour guide, taking me on adventures to The Grounds of Alexandria, Paddington, Adriano Zumbo's dessert train (like a sushi train, only sweet, delicious dessert!), Glebe and Darlinghurst. I also enjoyed a good hotdog and a couple of cocktails at The Soda Factory with her and our other Sydney sider Contiki friends. It's been a lot of fun creating Twitter content for The Soda Factory at my internship too. Back in the day before I discovered blogging, I used to use LiveJournal and I met up with longtime LJ pal, Kim, at The Standard where we went to see Jagwar Ma perform live. It was such an awesome night out and it was so much fun talking to Kim about fantastic music. Jagwar Ma put on such a good show and it was one of the best gigs I've been to in ages. I loved it! I had the awesome experience of going to my first event at the Sydney Opera House, which was seeing Tavi Gevinson's Big Big World (At 17) talk, which was just absolutely inspiring and something I'll go into in a later blog post. In August, I also met my favourite Aussie blogger ladies, Jessica and Katrina. We enjoyed dim sum for lunch and then no surprise, went browsing around Priceline, Myer, Cosmo Cosmetics and Mecca Cosmetica, doing a bit of shopping and talking about blogging, YouTube and our never-ending wishlists! Blogging is just starting to get big in Australia and it was a pleasure to meet my absolute favourites.
