Bedroom Wishlist and Big City Dreams
Is it weird to get excited about a life you don't have yet? Don't get me wrong, it's not as if I'm not enjoying my life the way it is right now, but I'm sure we all have those days where we get carried away in our hopes, dreams and aspirations. I dream of leaving Perth and calling a big city home, a job I love, new scenery, new people, new adventures and of course, my perfect bedroom.
For me, my bedroom has always been my escape from the world where I can feel completely happy and content in my surroundings doing what ever I please. While I'm still a few years financially well off from having my own dream home, for now, I can focus on my dream bedroom. As you can tell from the above wishlist, I've always been very much into the minimalist look with white decor and feminine touches. I always love showing hints of my personality and my interests through the way I decorate my room and from my current bedroom, you could safely say that I'm obsessed with France, makeup, fashion, the TV show, Friends, and everything girly!
I've always been a huge Ikea fan and I've just recently fallen in love with Zara Home. Yes, Ikea is mass produced and everyone owns the same stuff, but those Swedes sure do know how to make such sleek, beautiful furniture. I can't wait to one day own the Malm dressing table to house all my beauty bits with a lovely huge antique mirror hanging above, and one of the infamous Expedit cases to display my coffee table books and other pretty knick knacks. I don't need a lot of workspace, so this little Micke desk would be nice to display my future iMac on. Apple is another one of those brands whose sexy aesthetically pleasing products I just can't resist. On Tumblr and Instagram, I've seen a lot of girls display clothing racks in their rooms and I think it's such a neat idea to show off your favourite and most worn items of the current season. Unfortunately, there is no Zara Home in Australia, but there are online services where you can shop on UK only websites and have things sent internationally. I absolutely adore their cushions, photo frames and candle holders. I also found these cute white whicker baskets with Cath Kidston-like floral lining from another UK website, which I'd love to put beauty products in.
Maybe it's Tumblr and Instagram to blame, but I've fallen in love with flowers all of a sudden. I used to think they were such a waste as they die, but for the time they last, they can instantly bring colour and freshness to a room. In my future bedroom, I plan on having a bouquet of roses or tulips from time to time. As Russh magazine is my bible, I'd probably have a stack of those somewhere and whole bunch of lovely candles (preferably Diptyque) to set the mood for the perfect dreamy girly bedroom.
I've saved my favourite 'dream home' inspiration photos from Tumblr, which I'll probably post soon, if you'd like to see. It seems that us fashion and beauty loving girls all seem to have a thing for decor too - I guess it comes with that creativity in us. I do love my current bedroom and a room tour post is coming soon, but I've started to outgrow being confined to my bedroom and I'm in need of big changes. I need a bigger wardrobe, especially! I'm loving my independence here in Sydney and I've never been so sure that I want to leave my home in the west for good.
Moving to the other side of the country permanently will be a huge change, but it's one I know that I can do and one that is going to give me a lot more opportunities in life. Sydney or Melbourne, at the moment, I have no idea where I'll end up, but I know that Perth just isn't me as I love big cities. I've always been so full of wanderlust and especially after travelling last year, I know in my heart I want to continue exploring and travelling, and to experience as much in life as I can.
