Greetings from Melbourne! I'm currently on holiday for nine days, so this and the next instalment of my Europe Photo Diary will be scheduled posts. I'll have even more travel adventures to share with you all when I'm back!
I've been meaning to post a clothing haul for ages, but with other blog posts taking priority, I never got around it and in fact, some of these clothes I bought last year in September. It's sort of just accumulated since then, so it's rather large, but I thought I'd show you all anyway, since I made the effort of taking the photos.
First up are some cute heart-shaped sunglasses. I have them in both red and white, so naturally, I needed another pair in pink. I got them because they're adorable and girly, but mostly because I'm a huge fan of Lolita. I've seen both films and I plan on reading the book very soon. Quirky Circus are one of my favourite brands and I own quite a few clothing pieces from them. I bought this cute turquoise floral top for Parklife festival last year and I'd been after a black skater skirt for a while now. I'm really into skater skirts as you can dress them up or down, which makes them really versatile. From Quirky Circus, I also bought this velvet paisley dress that I had been eyeing on for a while. Velvet and paisley? Yes, please! I actually decided against buying it, until I remembered one of my best friend's wedding was fast approaching and needed a dress to wear. Perfect excuse, right? I think it sort of looks like granny curtains, but in a good way, and I love that it's not so super fancy, so I can still wear it out.
One of the disadvantages of working at Myer is that you're always surrounded by pretty clothes and makeup that you can't help but buy, but the advantage of that is staff discount! I fell in love with this Miss Shop crop top as soon as I saw it because of the lace, cut out back and zip detailing. Paired with some vintage Levi cutoffs, you've got yourself the perfect festival outfit. When I was in Melbourne last year, I paid a visit to Topshop and bought a couple of things. I absolutely adore my snake skin print leggings as they're just so cool and I've had quite a few compliments on them too. I also bought a basic heather grey tank and I plan on buying more of these now that I'm back here in Melbourne (Perth will never get the cool shops) as it's the softest, comfiest and most flattering tank top I've ever worn.
Last year in November, American Apparel had a sale on for Black Friday, so I took full advantage of that and bought some crop tees and a gorgeous lace bralette. I needed more cute and casual tops in my wardrobe and I'd been wanting a lace triangle bra for a while. I may not have a boyfriend, but who needs a man to buy expensive lingerie? Wear it for yourself and feel good for yourself! Plus, there's no harm in waiting for that special someone to come along!
As a huge fan of Neon Indian, I decided to add this top to my band tee collection and I love that it has that 80s/futuristic sort of style to it just like his music. Army green is a colour that's really in at the moment and I bought this lovely shirt from Dotti, which I think would look good worn on its own or even undone over top other tops. While I was there, I also picked up a super cool iPhone case that has a dial to take all kinds of Holga-like photos for a mere $5. Bargain! A couple of months later, I saw a super cute cat top and leather skirt that I just couldn't help but buy. I've always loved cats and I think Instagram has only my deepened by love for the furry little friends. I was originally going to buy a bowler hat from Topshop, but after reading reviews that they run quite large, I decided to just buy a cheapo one from eBay for a fraction of the cost. I think they instantly make your outfit a lot more interesting and I love that cute and girly English style. It'll be the perfect autumn/winter accessory.
I went a little top crazy in General Pants Co. recently. They always have good stuff. My eyes were instantly drawn to this velvet damask crop top and the fact that it was in a burgundy colour made it so much more gorgeous. Velvet? Damask? Burgundy? Yes, yes and yes! Perhaps floral has been overdone by now, but I still enjoy the odd floral print here and there. These two tops by Paint It Red and Don't Ask Amanda are a different approach to floral print with the floral mesh and floral panels, I think. I simply can't get enough of my lace and I'm really into crop tops as well. I like how it sort of breaks up an outfit with a hint of skin and who doesn't love a flashback to the nineties? This Alice In The Eve lace crop top is just love and the beaded detailing just adds that extra something.
The first time I was in Melbourne back in 2011 (there are a lot of references to Melbourne in this post. Ah, I really do love this city!), I bought the Heaven flats by Steve Madden and they instantly became my favourite pair of flats ever as they're so comfy. Unfortunately, that pair got destroyed in Europe last year and I was determined to repurchase another pair as I simply could not wear another brand of plain black flats again! I'm not sure if they're a discontinued style or not as I could not find them anywhere except for one online American store, but I was so pleased to have them back in my life and I even bought the patent ones too.
I hope you all enjoyed my massive clothing haul. No doubt I'll have another one when I'm back from Melbourne! What clothes have you bought recently?
