Hey, I'm Tenneil

I live in Perth, Australia, and this is my creative outlet where I blog about beauty, my life and everything in between. I enjoy the '80s, the '90s and anything French, and some of my favourite things in life include music,  film, summer and a nice cup of tea.

The Trees, Like Lungs, Filling with Air. My Sister - the Mean One - Pulling My Hair

Bit of a random post, but I just wanted to show you some random things I've acquired over the past couple of months and give you all a bit of an update on my life. I do love all things fashion and beauty talk, but I love seeing some personality in a blog too.

Having had the Return to Tiffany Double Heart Tag Pendant necklace on my wishlist for almost a year now, I decided to treat myself on Valentine's Day. 2013 hasn't been the easiest year for me - it's been a journey of self-reflection, personal growth and finding myself. I'm learning to strengthen my self-esteem and confidence to love myself and to feel truly happy from within. I'm far from it, but it's all baby steps. I've never truly believed in myself, which hasn't gotten me anywhere, but this year, I'm really trying to face my fears and not give up. To be happy is to love yourself - to treat yourself kindly, respect yourself and trust yourself. It's true that you only live once and I do believe in indulging yourself (as you probably know already). Buying this necklace was a symbol of my new found love for myself and a gift to welcome a new chapter in my life as I want to live life to the fullest. Nobody is going to come save you, you have to save yourself. It serves to remind me that my happiness comes before anyone else's and to let go of whatever doesn't add to it. Happy Valentine's Day to me, love me.

I've been adoring everything Diptyque lately. A couple of months ago, I bought two of their candles, Mimosa and Roses, and they're just divine! I've heard some people say that they don't burn very well as they blacken the candle jar and your walls, but these have burnt perfectly clean for me so far. As much as I don't want to use them up, I'm looking forward to recycling the jars and using them as storage for my beauty bits. I just love the sleek minimalist design of the brand.

Two things I've been meaning to do for ages is get into reading and learning French. As a huge fan of the Sofia Coppola film, I've started reading The Virgin Suicides, and I'm absolutely enjoying learning French on the iPhone apps, Duolingo and French by Mind Snacks. I eventually want to take classes sometime soon too. Another thing I've been meaning to do, but have put off for years, is get my licence. It's shocking, I know, but I'm really trying hard not to give up this year. I've renewed my learner's and got myself some new glasses as I'm short-sighted. I love them and actually don't feel self-conscious wearing my new Ray-Ban specs! In other things, I bought a book (which is also a diary) by Ladurée, which is full of recipes, little facts, quotes and the simple things in life. In addition, The Little Dictionary of Fashion by Christian Dior has been added to the shelf too. I love pretty books, but now I need to make the time to actually read them!

I've thrown in a few pretty photos of macarons into this post for good measure. These little bite size pieces of Heaven are just so beautiful! Nothing could beat my experience of trying Ladurée macarons in Paris, but the David Jones ones come pretty close. I shared these with my family and Mum and I both agreed that the David Jones salted caramel ones were definitely better than the Adriano Zumbo boxed ones we attempted to make! If you live in Australia, you must try the salted caramel and popcorn ones from David Jones, they're by far the best.

If you haven't heard from my Twitter, I'm going to Melbourne at the end of next month! I'm so excited! Basically, I saw an ad for cheap flights on Facebook, texted my friend and an hour later, tickets were booked. I'm going with my good friend, Anna, for eight days (my sister is coming for four) and I'm so looking forward to shopping, checking out cool bars, catch ups with old friends, doing some touristy things like Great Ocean Road and doing a bit of house hunting with my future housemate, Inna, who already lives there. 2013 has been a little lacklustre with no holidays to look forward to, but now that I have one, I'm so happy as I love travelling so much. I'm hoping the visit will make me 100% certain that I want to live there in the near future.

Lastly, I just want to say a huge thank you to all of you who read my blog and leave the sweetest comments! I really enjoy blogging and it's so nice that people get enjoyment out of it too. I don't have all the time in the world to update more regularly, but you guys really do keep me going at it. It really means the world to me.
