I was going to start venturing into monthly favourites posts, but when I could only think of one beauty product for the month of April (mentioned below), I gave up on that idea. I don't know how some girls do it! I by no means have a small makeup collection (I wouldn't say it's excessive either though. I certainly don't need an Ikea Alex set of drawers!), but I guess I tend to use products until they run out or I try to share the love equally between all my products.
Instead of doing a monthly favourites of just beauty products, I thought I'd try to incorporate a general monthly favourites of what's being going on in my life into my blog. I think it'll help me to focus more on the positives in life and forget about the negatives.
Rebecca's blog, From Roses, immediately became one of my favourites as soon as I discovered it by Googling pictures of Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream. From the minimalist aesthetic of her blog, her photography and to her gorgeous taste in interior design and beauty products, I am always inspired by her. In fact, my idea for this blog post came from Rebecca.
I'm constantly downloading music and this month, I discovered quite a few great albums. A few of them include, Shaking The Habitual by The Knife, Mosquito by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Amok by Atoms For Peace, Cast Away by Strange Talk and Bad Vibes by Shlohmo. I also rediscovered just how good Toro y Moi's new album, Anything In Return, is. I've featured a playlist of my favourite tracks for this month below.
Film and television
I don't watch as many movies as I used to, but a movie I loved this month was Ruby Sparks. I'm a huge fan of Paul Dano, and Zoe Kazan was just as great in the film too. I just loved her red hair! In April, I said goodbye to two of my favourite TV shows and finally watched the final seasons of Gossip Girl and 30 Rock. I was so happy to finally see Chuck and Blair get back together! As for 30 Rock, it definitely finished on top and had just as many laughs as the previous seasons.
YSL's Shocking mascara has been absolute wonders. I've only been using it for about a week, but I think it may be my new holy grail mascara, replacing Max Factor's False Lash Effect. I won't go into too much detail as I'm planning to do a separate review soon.
American Apparel crop tops. Since I'm short, they don't show too much skin on me, which I like, and they're such everyday staples that you can either dress up or down. My favourite has been the striped black and white one, and I'm dying for the new pastel crushed velvet top.
Seeing The xx live, getting insanely drunk during Easter long weekend, Ashley's engagement party, organising and planning my Melbourne trip with Anna, exercising and actually pushing myself (and then feeling the good pain that comes afterwards!), reading The Virgin Suicides and my internship interview with Jaden Social.
