It's only in the past few years that my perfume collection has grown considerably... but that's because only in the past few years have I been able to afford it. I thought I'd share with you what I own, my favourites, where I wear them and what each of them mean to me. I think that's far more interesting than describing the scents, which I would be hopeless at. I'm mostly into floral, fresh and sweet scents. Nothing over the top sickly sweet though and I don't like anything musky. If you would like to know all about the notes and the smell, you can always do a bit of a Google or check out your nearest department store!
I had never owned a designer perfume until around 2008/2009 when my best friend bought me my very first for my birthday. It was Dior Addict 2 and I'm still very much in love with this perfume. It's quite a strong and long lasting scent, so I like to reserve this for nights out. It's one of those perfumes that brings back a flood of memories of messy nights out with the girls! After finally owning my very first designer fragrance, I really wanted to get myself Daisy by Marc Jacobs and Chloé by Chloé. Being the poor uni student I was back then, I didn't get these two at the same time and like Dior Addict 2, they still remain two of my favourites. Contained in such beautiful bottles, they're such old time classics and I'm sure most girls own at least one of these in their collection, if not both. Daisy is a lovely daytime scent as it's so light, floral and fresh, whereas I think Chloé is a great nighttime scent as it's a lot stronger. I love, love, love the smell of roses, which is why Chloé is one of my all time favourites. I don't think I could ever get sick of this fragrance! The only downside is that my little bottle is tarnished. After one smell of Yves Saint Laurent's, Parisienne, I knew I needed to have it. I bought it together with Juicy Couture's, Viva La Juicy, from StrawberryNet as it was a lot cheaper. While I still wear these perfumes, I wouldn't call either of them a favourite. I used to be obsessed with my sample of Viva La Juicy, which I used so sparingly, but I think it's one of those fragrances you could very easily get sick of if you use it often. It's very sweet, fruity and girly. I'd say it's more of a teenage girl scent, but I do still enjoy wearing this from time to time.
I bought Chanel's, Chance Eau Tendre, and Givenchy's, Ange ou Démon, together from Myer a few years ago during a sale. I had been originally wanting the Eau Fraiche version of Chance, but after smelling Eau Tendre, I liked it so much more. It's sweet, but fresh at the same time and I love wearing this during the day. Along with Daisy, it's one of my favourite daytime scents. Ange ou Démon was purchased on a whim after randomly smelling it in Myer. This was another one of my favourite daytime scents, except I've worn this so much, I don't tend to reach for it anymore. I still really like it, I'm just taking a break from it! I hate to admit this, but I was never a fan of Miss Dior Cherie in the beginning. It was too sweet and "old lady" like for my taste, however, when Christian Dior released the new versions, I fell in love with Blooming Bouquet. This perfume is another classic that I think most girls own. That gorgeous bottle with the big bow, how can you resist?!
I was very lucky to have a lovely and generous friend buy me Coco Mademoiselle (the writing is still on there, the sun was just reflecting it!) as a gift and I just adore it. It's a very strong scent, though I still wear it during the day. I would call this one of my more "grown up" fragrances and I'm not sure why, but I just think it's a mature young lady scent. I had been looking out for a cool, fresh and light fragrance two summers ago, but I just couldn't find anything until I thought of Turquatic by MAC. I bought this on eBay not knowing what it smelt like, but it turned out to be everything and more that I was looking for. I love wearing this to summer music festivals and this is another perfume that brings back some great memories. After falling in love with Japan during my trip last year, I decided I needed a Harajuku Lovers perfume. I decided to get the Wicked Style Baby (the pink hair got me!) and it's so gorgeous. It's sweet and fruity, and another everyday favourite. On my Europe trip last year, we visited the Fragonard perfumery in France where I bought a little bottle of the Étoile fragrance. This smells quite similar to MAC's Turquatic, although I would say it's stronger. It's a fresh floral scent, lovely for those bright blue sky summer days. The last perfume bottle I have bought is the Eau So Fresh version of Daisy. I didn't need the big bottle of this seeing as though I already own enough perfume to last me a life time, so I opted for this small 35mL bottle instead. Eau So Fresh (love that name!) is a little bit sweeter and stronger than the original and while I do prefer the original, Eau So Fresh has become one of my favourites for daytime too.
One of the perks of working at Myer is being able to get lots of samples from the lovely ladies in the Fragrance Department. Here's a collection of my samples (that I keep in my Dior pouch that came with Dior Addict 2), as well as my latest addition to the collection, Eau Rose by Diptyque. When I went to buy the candle at Mecca Cosmetica a few months ago, the saleswoman put this on me and since then, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it! I just had to get it and I don't know why I didn't sooner. It smells like beautiful fresh roses and it's just pure love. Chloé has a few other notes in it, so they are different, although somewhat similar. Either way, you need both! Overall, I'm very happy with my collection now and I don't plan on buying anymore anytime soon.
Do you own any of the perfumes I own? If so, which ones?
