As sad as it was leaving Sydney at the beginning of October, being back home hasn't been too terrible, though that is mainly because I've been working towards my goals, the main one of which is leaving for good! I've been working a lot to save money, while doing some work on the side for the company I interned for. In between work, I'm working on blog posts I've had planned for ages and clearing out my room to sell and get rid of a tonne of crap I don't use or need. I'm currently going through a massive purge of everything in my room and it feels really good. It's been great catching up with friends now that I'm back home and I can't believe I ever forgot how good Mum's cooking was.
I was so inspired by Emma's blog post on her bedroom tour, which you can see here. I've been dreaming so much about redecorating my room, but it doesn't really make much sense at the moment as I want to move out in a few months time. For now, I'll just keep lusting after more makeup and clothing storage, and a Malm dressing table!
Cut Copy's new album, Free Your Mind, leaked a few days early and it goes without saying that it is absolutely mind blowing. This band fills my heart up with so much love and it just wants to explode whenever I listen to their music. I've also been enjoying the new releases from CHVRCHES, Lorde, HAIM and Four Tet, and I've included my favourite tracks of theirs in my monthly playlist. The Preachers were another amazing discovery in October and I'm just obsessed with the song, Is This How You Feel? The talent that comes out of Australia will never cease to amaze me. My October playlist is very upbeat and dancey, so if you're in need of some fun-loving tunes, check it out and let me know what you think!
Film and television
In October, I took a ride back to the 90s and began watching The Nanny. I haven't had much time to watch any other TV, though I have downloaded a lot of 90s television that I need to watch and I'm looking forward to the nostalgia trip. In movies, I still continued on with some 90s classics such as The Truman Show and decided to get a little festive this Halloween and watch The Addams Family, as well as the sequel. I wish I was as awesome as Wednesday Addams. I also watched 80s classic, The Lost Boys and as for new releases, there was Before Midnight, which was just as brilliant as the first two films. If you haven't seen the trilogy, I highly recommend them as they're the most perfect romantic comedies, and Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy have such amazing chemistry. If you love romance, wit, charm and Europe, you'll just adore these movies.
Beauty product of the month has to go to Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. I've had a couple of minor cuts on my fingers and although I don't have sensitive skin, my fingers get a little irritated from certain rings I wear. I dab a little bit of the cream on my fingers and they heal up in no time. I've also been using it on my lips as a lip balm, as well as on mosquito bites. It really soothes them and reduces irritation and itchiness. I think this will definitely be a staple product this summer.
I've mostly been stuck wearing work clothes or PJs this month, but I did get a chance to wear my Windsor Smith Lily shoes in black on a lunch date with some workmates and I just love them! They give a nice amount of height and go with any outfit. I wanted to get the silverspec ones as seen in my birthday/spring wishlist, but unfortunately, they've sold out. I really want the white ones now instead as they're such a comfortable and versatile sandal, and you can't get an even brighter colour than white for the summer.
I guess coming back home was the most significant thing to happen in my life in October, but hearing Cut Copy's new album was definitely the highlight. Being back at work is really lame, but having money in my bank account again mostly outweighs that. I've been really strict on my spending this month and I'm really proud of myself for almost having completed my first savings goal. My current beauty product wishlist is a mile long, but I'll treat myself for Christmas!
