Hey, I'm Tenneil

I live in Perth, Australia, and this is my creative outlet where I blog about beauty, my life and everything in between. I enjoy the '80s, the '90s and anything French, and some of my favourite things in life include music,  film, summer and a nice cup of tea.

Summer Essentials

Summer Essentials

Mangoes in season, late sunsets, early sunrises and with only a few days left until Christmas, summer is well and truly here! Well, in the Southern Hemisphere, anyway. I'm the kind of person who wears whatever in whatever season, though I do have some that I gravitate more towards and I've decided to show you all my summer essential beauty products.

I've been using Caudalie's Beauty Elixir for a couple of months now and I just adore this stuff! It's great for summer for when you want to feel refreshed on those warm balmy nights and even in the mornings to help wake you up. I find most sprays more useful in the summer, really. Another two favourites of mine are Avène Eau Thermale and Urban Decay All Nighter Spray. Even if I have a shower at night, I can still come out feeling muggy within no time again, so I love spraying Eau Thermale on me just before bed, so I feel refreshed again and that helps me to sleep better. It's basically just water in a can, but I love it. As for the All Nighter Spray, this stuff by Urban Decay will keep your make up lasting all day long, which is especially helpful if you're out at a music festival. I'm not usually one to sweat off my make up, but I love the reassurance that I won't need to touch up throughout the day.

My foundation of choice in the summer is NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. I used this throughout my time travelling in Europe in July and August, and this stuff did not budge! We'd spend hours in the hot European heat, but it always lasted all day. If you're looking for a light foundation with good coverage, this product is a must as thick foundations don't feel so nice on the skin during summer. MAC's Turquatic fragrance always makes me think of summer festivals. I used it during the summer last year and I just love how light and fresh it is. It smells like a combination of the ocean and fruits to me, which is very fitting with the summertime.

I find it stupid how a lot of people only stick to wearing certain colours in certain seasons. I don't get why people just can't wear whatever they want whenever they want! Having said that though, there are some typical bright colours that I just love for the summer. I'm a huge fan of coral/orange/red colours and my go to products are Topshop's Infared lipstick and YSL's Volupté Sheer Candy in #10 for lips, and as for cheeks, Benefit's Coralista blush and MAC's Shell Cream Colour Base as a cheek highlight. Cream Colour Bases and Volupté Sheer Candies are especially nice for the summer as they're pretty low maintenance products and easy to apply. Lastly, there's nail polish, and Essie's Bikini So Teeny (such a cute name and very summery too!) and Mint Candy Apple (a long time favourite) are just super lovely pastel brights that look even better under the sun.

As well as my favourite summer products, I thought I'd put together a summer playlist. Enjoy!
